Hello dear readers, do I have BIG news for you today. So big, that once I again I am sending out a SPECIAL EDITION of Pilates Intel. It will be short and sweet, and exciting.
I want to announce that the intelligent, vibrant and ever giving Kathy Corey is joining Pilates Intel as resident expert and regular contributor. Yep, you read correctly, she is joining Pilates Intel.
Kathy has been supportive of Pilates Intel from the first moment that I contacted her. Though I was unknown to her on first contact, it was clear that she was willing and open to all possibilities to do something worthwhile for Pilates.
Here are some of the things that Kathy has to say about Pilates Intel in our dialogues:
“I am VERY happy with your newsletter. I think it is one of the best I have seen.”
“Your newsletter is very valuable to the Pilates community, and I really like the voice from which is speaks.”
Kathy and I had a Skype date on June 20th, and once we got the video connection in good order, the first and immediate question from Kathy to me was “so what can we do to continue the development of Pilates Intel?”
“I would like that you come and be part of the site as a regular contributor.”
“That sounds like a great idea!” she replied.
And that was that. It was with that short exchange, the potential Nureyev-Fonteyn partnership of the Pilates world came into being (for those of you new to class, Rudolf Nureyev-Margot Fonteyn was perhaps the greatest ballet partnership of the 20th century).
So what are some of the things you can look forward to with Kathy and Pilates Intel. Well here is a little preview of what we found important.
- Write about some of the Pilates equipment that in general is not used that much, like the spine corrector. There are other great original pieces of equipment that may even be obscure to some of us, such as the pedipole.
- To honor and continue the legacies of the Master Teachers such as Bruce King, Ron Fletcher, Carola Trier, Lolita san Miguel and Romana Kryzanowska,
- To spread the word about the yearly conference at Mönchengladbach, Germany. This, as mentioned in the first article we presented on Kathy, is a subject very close to Kathy’s heart. “I think that every Pilates teacher needs to come to Mönchengladbach at least once, as a kind of pilgrimage”. Kathy was chosen by Lolita san Miguel to spearhead the yearly the conference.
And these ideas came up in the very short meeting we had, so with future work and cooperation, we are sure to come up with a lot more. And I look forward to it.
Thank you Kathy for coming on board, I am really thankful that you did, lets work together to make Pilates Intel a great value to the Pilates world.
